Quick Start
Yomitomo is a local-first AI reading companion for desktop. It does not read instead of you. It helps you highlight, annotate, question, and discuss while you read. Articles, annotations, discussions, provider settings, and API keys stay on your computer.
First Run
Section titled “First Run”- Open Yomitomo and read the onboarding introduction.
- Go to Settings, then Models and Routing.
- Add a model provider, enter its API key, and test the connection.
- Assign task routes for reading assistants and review assistants.
- Return to the Library and import a web article, EPUB book, or PDF document.
You can switch the app language in Settings. Website docs are available in Chinese and English. To sync highlights, thoughts, and reading progress from WeRead, first read “Get a WeRead API Key”.

- Notes are the smallest durable output of reading.
- Comments keep a note open to questioning and revision.
- AI assistants join only when you need them in a discussion or co-reading flow.
